Round trip. A doctoral dissertation in six questions: from profession to academia
Claudia María Torralba Rubinos

In 2024, the author of this article defended her doctoral dissertation, entitled Aldibereko interpretazioa eta Eusko Legebiltzarreko diskurtsoa: enuntziatu parentetikoen eta modalizazioaren azterketa corpus elebidun eta hirukoitz batean (Simultaneous interpreting and discourse in the Basque Parliament: the analysis of parenthetical utterances and modalization in a triple and bilingual corpus), at the University of the Basque Country. In this article, the reader will find a straightforward presentation of a passage from the dissertation as well as reflections derived from it. Focusing on the simultaneous translation of texts, the article answers six questions: What did I investigate? Why and for what purpose did I investigate it? How did I investigate it? What results were obtained? What are the implications for the profession? What remains to be investigated? Thus, the reader is introduced to the general idea of the contribution made by this work to the field of interpretation and is provided with some reflections for the future.
