Why are female translators who they are?

Abstract

Translation is often spoken of as a feminized activity but nevertheless, recent studies about translations into Basque indicate that three of every four translations are done by men. Why this imbalance? In order to shed light on this phenomenon, we asked female translators Itziar Diez de Ultzurrun, Bego Montorio and Ana Morales for their opinions. Here we present the exchange of opinions that they expressed during our group interview with them in March of 2020.
