Abstract
In the fall of 2014, EIZIE and the DSS2016EU project set into motion the 'New life for Shakespeare's Dream' initiative, in recognition of the future performance in San Sebastian of *A Midsummer Night's Dream in a Basque translation by Juan Garzia Garmendia. In the first session, entitled The Translator's Kitchen (I)*, which took place at the Faculty of Arts in Vitoria primarily before students of translation, Garzia spoke about the process of translating the work, and suggested that they should each try to translate a little of Shakespeare's work. «How can a novice even begin to translate Shakespeare? And why?» most wondered. Nevertheless, the question we put forward here is: why not? A playful temptation for beginners and the reticent alike.
