Simultaneous interpreting: keys and research methods

Abstract

I don't know if the translation and/or interpreting of bertsolaritza (spontaneous poetry) should have a place in Senez. It's true we've talked about as many impossible things as we've had hot dinners; but, when we write, we gobble up all the hot dinners in a single sitting. Put that way, it seems that translating bertsos (verse) is a subject on which one can't theorize much and that, although it happens in practice, a lot of intuition and very little judgement goes into it. Are bertsos translatable? In an increasingly polyglot Basque society, is the Basque-language medium the only one where bertsos have a place?
