Generative artificial intelligence: between paradigm shift and disruption
This article aims to be an activist reflection, first, on the impact of generative AI (primarily neural translation) on professions that have to do with translation, and furthermore, on the paradigm shifts and disruption that such technologies are bringing about in our society. It also discusses the need for citizens, professionals, associations and legislative powers to regulate and control such technologies and, needless to say, the need for technologies paid for or supported by public money in particular to be as free as possible and based on an open-source model, among other things. Ultimately, as far as job losses are concerned, profits from artificial intelligence should help mitigate the worst effects through taxes and levies.
