Pioneering Basque women translators (from Bizenta Antonia Mogel Elgezabal to the 1970s)
Summary
The purpose of this work is to investigate and draw attention to the pioneering Basque women translators who translated literature into Basque from Bizenta Antonia Mogel Elgezabal to the 1970s: Julene Azpeitia Gomez, Tene Mujika Egaña, Maria Dolores Agirre Aizpuru, Miren Etxabe Aldai and Maritxu Urreta Zulaika. First, we present their biographical data; next, we focus on their literary careers; and finally, we discuss their translations. To conclude, in the final section, we draw some general conclusions that link all of these translators.
