Towards a professional ethics in translation and interpreting
Abstract
This article presents the research carried out in the PhD Thesis titled Deontological and professional aspects of legal, sworn and judicial translation. This project was directed by Dr Emilio Ortega Arjonilla, full professor of the University of Malaga and it unanimously received the rating of Cum laude. It was carried out within the framework of the PhD Programme «Translation Studies: Research in Specialised Translation and Interpretation» of the University of Malaga (programme that has been acknowledged with the quality award of the Ministry of Education and Science. Code: MCD2003-00810) and once read, it was published by the Press of the University of Malaga. The aims posed have been divided into Procedural or General aims, which allow us to delimit the most important research areas of this work, and into Specific aims, with describe in detail the development of the research and justify the structure that results from this research work. It poses the study and analysis of the ethical, deontological and professional aspects of Translation in general, and of legal, sworn and judicial translation in particular.
