Basque Literature in Translation

Abstract
This article examines Basque literature that has been translated into other languages. Our purpose was to explore what works have been translated from Basque, and into what languages. As a relatively recent phenomenon, it has been little studied to date and deserves deeper examination. Our work consisted of two principle areas: first, we composed a catalogue of works that have been translated from Basque, and second, the collected data were analyzed from several different points of view: chronology, original works by each author, target publications by each author, target languages, titles and genres. The conclusions we reached, keeping in mind the results of the different analyses, can serve as reference points for future translations.
