Andoni Sarriegi Eskisabel

Abstract

In this article, the author not only recounts his encounters with Hiazinto Fernandorena during the development of the Basque language, but also discusses the evolution of that development. In addition to introducing a biography of Hiazinto, he also mentions four specific encounters with him: the literacy campaign of 1968, the book Batasunaren kutxa, the cooperative work of translating history into Basque, and the period of municipal translators. Additionally, he discusses Hiazinto's creation and development of works for schools, and the production of texts and teaching materials in Basque, as well as the publishing house Gordailu, and Hiazinto's other avocations, such as travel and bee-keeping.
