Ocean Vuong: desire and loss
The work of poet Ocean Vuong (Vietnam, 1988) is greatly influenced by his origins, desires and childhood experiences, and he has created his own literary tradition based on these experiences: the trauma of war, abandonment by his father, life as a refugee, queerness, rural life, poverty, the hands of the women who raised him... All of these permeate his work and give his poetry and prose a nature both elusive and profound. Vuong’s writing takes place between desire and loss: subtle, fragile, moving, painful.
