Edorta Matauko: cars and bicycles
The author of this article met Edorta Matauko twenty years before his death. They often saw each other at Euskalema meetings, but the author knew nothing about Matauko’s personal life. In February of 2022, he suggested that Matauko translate Stefan Zweig’s Decisive Moments in History (Basque title: Gizadiaren oren gorenak) and they met again, but it wasn’t until Matauko passed away in 2026 and the author had coffee with his best friend that he realized he had never really known him.
