Translation in administration: some considerations
In this article on administrative written translation, we first analyze the data in hand to determine what language is primarily used when creating texts. Next, we reflect on what role translation should play in the framework of language policy and discuss some recommendations that have been made regarding the strategy for Spanish-Basque translations. The effect of workload on quantity and quality is also brought up. Finally, the invisibility of the translator, the fact that Basque citizens sometimes receive administrative information late, and the opportunities and risks of neural translation are mentioned.
