Abstract

As Professor Jon Kortazar states in this article, it is impossible to imagine the poetry of Bosnian poet Sarajlić without bearing in mind the very essence of the city of Sarajevo. Sarajlić’s poetry is an urban poetry, the living word of the city, its geography. The poet’s words seem to create the image of the city, as Aresti’s composed the cartography of Bilbao. The family name Sarajlić means Sarajevan; thus, the identification between the poet and the city is absolute. Like Gabriel Aresti, Sarajlić also wrote social poetry. Using simple and direct language, he fixed his pen on the poetic word.
