Heterolingualism in the works of Ramon Saizarbitoria

Abstract

This article is a summary of a Master's Thesis in Basque Linguistics and Philology defended in September of 2014, which examines the translation of heterolingual texts through an analysis of three novels by Basque writer Ramon Saizarbitoria: Ehun metro (One Hundred Meters )(1976), Hamaika pauso (Innumerable Steps) (1995), and Martutene (2012), and their respective translations into Spanish. After describing how heterolingualism is expressed in the source texts, the target texts are analyzed to determine whether the original level of heterolingualism is neutralized or maintained in the translations.
