Txomin Arratibel (1956-2015)
Abstract
Txomin Arratibel, a member of EIZIE, died in March of 2015 after a serious illness. He began his career translating and adapting scripts for dubbing in the early years of ETB. In an era in which there was a great deal yet to be done, Arratibel was among those who made every effort to ensure that the Basque in movies and television series would be as natural as possible. Beginning in 1990, when this type of work began to get scarce, he worked hard in devoting himself, as many other people did, to other tasks associated with translation, such as the Morris Basque-English dictionary. Within EIZIE, he was always an unflagging champion of professionals in audiovisual translation.
