Abstract

This article analyses the different sides to the author-translator relationship, providing a large number of instances from literary history. The article's author initially mantains that translation plays an essential role in any literature, that going both for the original language and for the target language; as a result, contact between authors and translators is seen as vital, although it requires both parties to be open and understanding so that this effort will result in a worthy achievement.
