Aditu, Elhuyar’s speech recognizer: another step forward in the digital development of the Basque language
Abstract
Linguistic and speech technologies in Basque have recently been enjoying great advances. If in 2019, the big news was the leap forward experienced by automatic translators in the field of Basque and technology, this year it is Elhuyar’s speech recognizer Aditu that is a milestone of similar magnitude. This system, which is capable of transcribing speech in Basque, opens a plethora of possibilities in many sectors, as well as in the areas of translation, dubbing and interpretation. Furthermore, if speech recognition technology is combined with automatic translation and speech synthesis, great development will be possible in the future.
