Neutrality and choices: gender markers in Danele Sarriugarte’s translations
Jone Bakaikoa García

Translators must make many decisions, both linguistic and ideological. Based on the premise that no translator is neutral, the author of this article aims to analyze how feminist ideology can be reflected in translation. To this end, she draws on three translations by Danele Sarriugarte, a leading translator in the field of Basque translation and gender. The main objective of the study is to identify how Sarriugarte translates gender markers into Basque; that is, to analyze how gender is dealt with in various texts of different natures and contexts.
