Project for the translation into Basque of 'The Tales of the Heptameron'
Marguerite d’Angoulême, Queen of Navarre, is a fundamental element in the history of Renaissance literature, not only because of the quality and wide distribution of her writings but also because of their modern vision. Since her main work, The Heptameron, had not yet been translated into Basque in 2020, a community project was launched during the COVID lockdown to introduce it to the Basque-speaking world. This article details the ins and outs of the project: how it was started, who is working on it, what has been done so far and how, and what plans are in place to complete and publish the work in the short to medium term. We do not provide many technical details about the translation (although some information is given); instead, we focus here on describing the project. Once the work is finished, we will then address the challenges of this translation from a more technical point of view.
