New Translators: from the Basque Country to Quebec
Summary
This article presents the experience of the most recent Itzultzaile Berriak (New Translators) program, which was organized by EIZIE in collaboration with the Etxepare Basque Institute, and in which two translators from Quebec, Yannick Bédard and Michel Usereau, translated stories by Garazi Arrula, Uxue Alberdi and Harkaitz Cano into French. This article discusses some of the problems that the translators encountered (gender, heterolingualism, politics, Quebec French...), and presents their reflections and the solutions they found.
