Translation as a meeting of cultures (The poetry of Kirmen Uribe and Harkaitz Cano in Georgian)
Abstract
The author of this article examines translation as a fertile meeting ground for different cultures. This researcher and translator carried out his study within the framework of the translation of contemporary Basque literature, a task to which he has dedicated himself for the last five years. Thanks to the process of translation, not only of narrative (Juanjo Olasagarre, Kirmen Uribe) and of Basque poetry (Gabriel Aresti, Kirmen Uribe), but also of books on literary theory (Jon Kortazar), he has had the opportunity to reflect on the peculiarities of the transmission of the Basque culture to a foreign culture, and on the difficulties entailed in that transmission.
