Elizabete Manterola

Abstract

In the fall of 2014, EIZIE, in collaboration with the Etxepare Basque Institute, arranged the eleventh annual workshop entitled The Writer and His Translators, which in this case took place as The Writer and Her Translators. The participants met in San Sebastian for two days (October 20 and 21) for the workshop, after the translators had completed the first draft of the translation of the selected text: Erraiak (Entrails), by Danele Sarriugarte Mochales. Then, on October 22, a public presentation was given at the Garoa bookshop in San Sebastian. The 2014 workshop included a second presentation as well, at Sorbonne-Nouvelle University in Paris, in which reader Miren Ibarluzea also took part.

Together with the invited writer (who is also a translator), French translator Edurne Alegria Aierdi, Spanish translator Miren Iriarte Oyaga, and Catalan translator Esti Lizaso Lopetegi also participated. The workshop was coordinated by Elizabete Manterola Agirrezabalaga.

This article is a summary of the translation process that took place in the workshop.
