Calming Fears: The Localization of Software in Basque
Abstract
Just as translation sips from new technologies, computer science is fed by the specialized environment of its localization to reach the maximum possible number of languages and cultures. This is a field that continues to worry many translators and, in November of 2013, to calm those fears, EIZIE organized a talk about the localization of software, webpages and videogames in Basque. Although this article brings together the materials used on that occasion, due to lack of space, its content was limited to the localization of software. The text reviews the elements, processes, work flow, tools and language specifications that pertain to the sector.
