Presentation
In collaboration with the University of the Basque Country at its XI Summer Course, the Association of Translators, Correctors and Interpreters of the Basque Language (EIZIE) organized a course entitled "Translation and Interpretation: instrument of communication and normalization". This was held on the 25th, 26th and 27th of August last year. Various translators and translation theorists were inviter from the Basque Country and Spain, as well as members of the Commission for the Languages of Limited Diffusion (FIT). It is the papers they presented which we offer in this number.
While the University of the Basque Country normally publishes the papers presented on its courses annually, given the interest our association had in publishing them, we sought its authorization to do so independently. This number is fruit of that request. We are therefore indebted to the University for the opportunity they have afforded us.
Of all the papers presented, there is just one that we fail to include here: that of Dr. Radivoie Konstantinovic, translator and professor from Belgrade. This is due to recording problems which occurred during the conference on that occasion, to communication problems caused by the war in Yugoslavia, and to an illness affecting D. Konstantinovic himself. We hope to be able to offer his paper in a future number.
