Basque, a living people, living language, living country
Abstract
In this article, the translator and doctor Bittor Hidalgo responds in depth to the article «Basque as an extinct language» published by Professor J.I. Hualde in his work Ibon Sarasolari gorazarre (2015). Among other aspects, he reflects on various topics that have been dealt with in numerous publications in the journal Senez or the blog of the association EIZIE 31 eskutik. Among others, B. Hidalgo devotes an extensive section, profusely documented, to loan translations, which can be useful for translators, interpreters and proofreaders.
