Ajmal Naqshbandi

April 8th, 2007, Ajmal Naqshbandi , a freelance journalist and translator (23), was killed in southern Afghanistan , according to the Afghan authorities and a purported spokesman for the Taliban.

Naqshbandi was kidnapped along with a driver and Daniele Mastrogiacomo of the Italian daily La Repubblica, in southern Helmand province on March 5. Mastrogiacomo was released March 19 in a swap for five Taliban militants.
