Translation Software Course - 2004

Undoubtedly, in the last few years, tools that assist in translation have become more and more important. Although it would have been almost unimaginable five years ago, today’s market offers many tools and programs to lighten the translator’s daily workload. But how to use them?

The purpose of the course was to examine what these tools are and how to use them. Theory was enhanced by practical considerations, with greater emphasis given to the latter. That is, the primary goal was to prepare the students to use each tool at home or at work.

The 20-hour course was taught in Eibar through the Basque Summer University on October 18-22, 2004. It was organized by IZO (Itzultzaileen Zerbitzu Ofiziala, Official Translator Services) and EIZIE (Euskal Itzultzaile, Zuzentzaile eta Interpreteen Elkartea, the Association of Translators, Correctors and Interpreters of the Basque Language).

The syllabus can be seen here (in Basque only).
