Basque.Books, the new portal for the promotion of literature created in Basque

The Etxepare Basque Institute has created a new tool to promote the translation and publishing of literature written in Basque.

The Basque.Books portal aims to provide a snapshot of contemporary Basque literature originally created in Basque, as well as to support writers, publishers and literary agents from the Basque Country in managing their royalties abroad.

It currently contains samples of 31 works: the texts translated thanks to the translation grants for literary samples provided by Etxepare since 2021 and also samples of all the works in Basque that have received the Euskadi Award since 2021.

The portal offers a wide range of information to all those interested in translating literature written in Basque: associations in the book sector, book fairs, translation and mobility grants... Each sample is accompanied by information about the book, the author, the translator, etc.

In addition, the information is linked to a search engine created specifically for this portal, where you can find out which authors and which works have been translated into which languages and by whom. The search engine is based on the Nor da Nor database, created and managed by EIZIE.
