Koro Navarro, awarded with the Euskadi prize of translation

Koro Navarro, translator member of EIZIE, has been awarded with the Euskadi prize of translation 2003, for her translation of Zortzi kontakizun, by Isaac Bashevis Singer. Bego Montorio got an honourable mention of the jury, for her translation of a novel by Germano Almeida.

Koro Navarro (Donostia, 1955) is an experienced translator, a specialist in English literature. Besides the prize-winning work, she has published three translated books in our Universal Literature Collection Kim by Rudyard Kipling, Kontakizunak by Edgar Alan Poe, and Zertaz ari garen maitasunaz ari garenean by Raymond Carver. Furthermore, she is one of the pioneers of the translation teaching in the Basque Country.

The translation Zortzi kontakizun, awarded wiht the Euskadi prize of translation, was published in 2002, issue n. 102 in our Universal Literature Collection, (Alberdania and Elkarlanean publishers).

The honourable mention of the jury was for Bego Montorio, for her translation of Germano Almeida's, Napumoceno da Silva Araujo jaunaren testamentua (published by Txalaparta).

Along with these translations, two other translators reached the final of the Euskadi prize: Xabier Olarra, for his translation of Azken hitzordua by Sandor Marai (Igela), and Karlos Zabala, for his translation of Mikel Strogoff by Jules Verne (Ibaizabal, in our Universal Literature Collection).
